Community Improvement Corporation of Belmont County

The Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) of Belmont County, Ohio, is a non-profit corporation that has been dedicated to economic development since 1962.

Belmont County is the center of eastern Ohio, sharing development in the Upper Ohio River Valley with Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The county seat of St. Clairsville, Ohio, located in the center of the county, is 70 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, PA.

Belmont County is in the heart of the Utica and Marcellus Shale.  Built on abundant natural resources plus a strong workforce, industry and manufacturing, education and entrepreneurship continue to grow in asset-based development. Belmont County’s historically valuable geography makes a diverse and rich business, social, and cultural hub bordering Southeastern  and Northeastern Ohio.

A major transportation time saver exists having I-70 running east and west while our neighbors to each side have I-77 and I-79 running north and south to major markets including Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., Indianapolis, St. Louis, Atlanta, Charleston, Cleveland, Detroit and Buffalo – all within a 500 mile drive. Coupled with more than 30 motor freight companies, the transportation modes serve more than 50% of the nation’s population and more than 60% of its manufacturing plants – all within overnight travel to Belmont County.
